return to RED?

From pink to purple and jet black, we’ve seen all kinds of hair colours trending in recent months. But ever since Rihanna stepped out at last months Met Gala working a ruby-red bob, complete with contrasting kirby grips (she’s also worn it sleek and shiny, waved and corkscrewed) we wondered whether we dare to try this brand new hue??

Rihanna first rocked red in 2010 when her hairstylist took her locks a bold shade of scarlet and within days everyone was racing to the salon asking for that exact shade of RiRi scarlet red. She sparked a huge trend for red hair that year and with shades from super scarlet to deeper plum reds the world went mad for RED

So is this a case of dèjà vu? This time around there’s a hint of blue mixed in that makes it more ruby than scarlet, and combining it with layers of subtly blended tones gives this red a glossy, modern, fashion finish… So are we keen to try it? If you are then just remember that being a full time red head requires some maintenance. Once a month salon visits are key to keeping this scarlet shade fresh and applying a semi-permanent gloss riche refresher colour will be needed (this keeps shine, locks in moisture and keeps colour super bright and fresh) and also remember to match the right tone of red for your skin tone…

Golden skin can take RiRi’s scarlet shade, paler skin types can go more vibrant and olive skin craves cooler reds, and if your unsure pop to Cream where our colour masters will advise you on the right red for you as the overall effect of the red craze needs to be “chic not cheap”

So be brave and rock the RED trend…
