"The new Rachel"...

"The new Rachel"...

Twenty years on and decades of hair experimenting later- have we finally found a new cut to rival Jennifer Anistons “Rachel” cut?…

Whether you loved it or hated it there was only one haircut that defined the 90’s and it had every hairdressers scissors in overdrive. Jennifer Anistons character on hit sitcom Friends had her her cut into a flicked out, layered cut and “The Rachel” was born… It was copied all over the world and it has gone down as one of the most iconic haircuts of all time. So you’ve guessed it, Rachel has made a come back but this time the nineties vibe is out and a fresh new update has landed… Think a cool, casual, long crop aka “The LOB” (long bob) is the new cool and we are seeing an anti-long hair movement among out favourite celebrities.

A-listers opting for The LOB are Sienna Miller, Rosie Huntington-Whitely, Brooklyn Decker, Alexa Chung, Rosamund Pike and supermodel supremo Jourdan Dunn who have all joined this new hair club and after years of long hair this new cut feels fresh. Ask your stylist for sharp, neat lines of a classic bob in varying lengths from collar bone to just below jaw length working in a shattered shape, creating a relaxed texture that’s easy to wear…

The basis of this haircut that stops it from looking like a classic bob is the edgy textured undercut (undercut to create height and texture, so don’t panic it’s not a clippered undercut) and it works better with either a grown out fringe or better still no fringe at all!!

So be brave and join “The LOB” movement for a spring hair update… Just discuss with your stylist which length would suit you best, keep the colour lighter (even really darker hair needs to lighten-up) and opt for a pale, lighter base colour and add clever pieces of colour so all the best bits of the cut are accentuated and lastly use a root boost mousse for plumping, Schwarzkopf session label spray mousse is amazing for this and the hero product for The LOB is a sea salt texturising spray… This product will give you just the right amount of texture and movement needed and Schwarzkopf Session label salt spray is perfect for this…
