  We owe our fondness for heated styling tools to Parisian hairdresser Francois Marcel. “His eureka moment came in 1872 when he discovered curls lasted longer if straight hair was wrapped around the sharp edge of hot scissors”. This sparked a trend for the Marcle Wave, a style worn by every starlet of that era and led to the patent of the “curling iron” in 1905 by Marcel.
