Sand Art Hair?...

The trend for crayola-hued hair has been huge of late and it’s showing no signs of stopping any time soon. Whether it’s been pastel pink, muted mermaid turquoise or pale grey this new trend of colour combining is know as “Sand Art” as the colour combos ripple together and look like the tonal colour patterns found in sand…

So with a summer inspired colour palette of blues, greens, purple and pink (or come to think of it any pastel combination will work) you can play around with these dramatic looks and really let your stylist go completely creative. Most importantly you need to start with a clean palette of hair colour and this involves pre-lightening your hair to a very light pale blonde with an even tone… (If you have darker pre-coloured hair or your hair isn’t in the best condition then you may want want to give this trend a miss, as it will only work on the lightest pre-lifted healthy hair)

So with the pastel colour combos chosen the sand art can commence… Diagonal, triangle shaped sections will take the mix of each colour and the density of colour is up to you. More pink but less purple? More grey than green? All the multi tones can be tailored to you and depending on where you part your hair a completely new range of colours reveals itself.

So just remember that the rainbow hair movement will need regular salon visits to keep the pastel hues refreshed and healthy and if you need inspiration just take a look at model Georgia May Jagger who has recently swapped her trademark honey coloured locks for a fresh rainbow do.

So sand isn’t now only for the beach its for the salon too…
